The Nodes menu shows all nodes available in a licensed Widget Designer version. Over 250 nodes are sorted by their category: Input, Filter, Output and the more advanced Scripts and Interaction nodes. Additionally, you can create your own custom node using all other types of nodes with the Composite Node.
"Search" helps finding the node by name |

Here you can change the order of the nodes in the menu. |
The node system in Widget Designer allows to create custom logic routing of control data. The list of possible scenarios is probably endless, here are some examples what can be achieved easily with nodes:
- remote control a Pandoras Box Layer with a standard Joystick
- connect a sensor input to any Pandoras Box Layer Parameter
- receive Art-Net values from another device and map them to Midi output values
If you have never worked with a node based system, the way it works within Widget Designer is very easy to learn. The next chapter informs you about the different types of nodes and how to create and work with them. Then a small tutorial follows.
More advanced users might need to enter incoming or outgoing values as string, decimal or hexadecimal values, please find here the Syntax TCP- / UDP- / Serial Messages.
Another advanced technique is to control nodes via methods, which is explained in the chapter Object and Member Notation. The "Settings" dialog lets you influence the node interval and node cycle interval. Both timings are of interest if Widget Designer draws too much performance of the system or if values need to be processed faster. |
Nodes are only available in a licensed Widget Designer version. However, if you load a project containing nodes in Widget Designer Free, they can be used there too. Editing their properties or copying nodes is prohibited, but the nodes themselves process data.
